An Improv Game To Try
If you read 2nd June’s post, you will learnt that I played an improv game with a group of P4 - 6 kids. It is very simple actually. You can try it too at your meetings or social events. Get the audience to call out 5 random words or sentences. In my case:
Maverick
Food Court
Volcano
Rotten Cheese
A Bowl of Hot Soup
Get a volunteer up on stage and start telling the story by weaving in the words, in whichever order he wants. Optional: They can repeat the words OR go in a particular order like bottom-up. It’s all up to you!
Oh, and they all start with “Once upon a time…”
Here’s some of the interesting albeit weird stories that these kids came up with. Enjoy!

Once upon a time, a maverick God who had magic came down to Earth to see how was everything doing on Earth. So he went to a foodcourt and bought a bowl of hot soup. He then decided to do a magic trick. He raised his hand and a volcano came out of the soup. But instead of erupting hot larva, it erupted rotten cheese! Everything went wrong with his magic. Because of this, the King of Gods ban him from doing any magic and sent him back to Earth as a normal human being.
Once upon a time, there was a maverick who went to a food court. He bought a bowl of hot soup from the soup stall. There was an active volcano near the food court. The volcano erupted rotten cheese onto the maverick. Very soon, he was covered with rotten cheese. As the cheese stank, the maverick fainted from the smell.
Once upon a time, a maverick climbed into a volcano and saw a large food court inside it. He went to a stall and bought a bowl of hot soup. There was something green in his soup. He put his hand in and fished out a rotten cheese. Soon, without knowing, the volcano erupted and he was drowned in hot lava. And he died.

Yes, the stories are rather morbid too. Seems like no mavericks - all ten - got a happy ending. They either scorched themselves and then die, or drowned in hot lava and then die, or buried under the volcano and then die. Some cut to the chase and just killed their maverick. Only one survived. He turned from God to human. How sad.
