Celebrating The Launch Of “The FAQ Book on Public Speaking”

Here’s Andrew, my partner-in-crime, celebrating the launch of our book - The FAQ Book on Public Speaking at ECI’s office-warming party on 11th Oct 2007 (Thursday). FYI, ECI stands for Executive Coach International and that’s where both of us were groomed. Judging from the smiling faces, I think Andrew once again charmed his audience.

Check out how engaged the audience were. Don’t you wish you can have that kind of effect on yours every time you come out to speak?

Yes, Andrew can be quite animated… what do you expect, he is an actor! *grins*

In case you did not realize, that man is one of the writers of The FAQ Book on Public Speaking. He’s Kelvin, the founder of ECI and also a Master Coach in Asia. It meant a lot to us that he was there that day.

Right right, where’s Eric?

In Sri Lanka…

Chilling at the pool while I let technology take over in sending the announcements and blog entry.

Yes, that’s me and my orange beach shorts.

As you can tell, Andrew and I are very, very excited about our book. But what we did not expect is the excitement we are getting from YOU! On top of the steady rise in sales (which we appreciated very much), we have been receiving well wishes from people all over the world. There were many who even offered to help us spread the word through their blogs and websites even though we did not ask for it.

There were three in particular who were extremely helpful and for that, I am deeply grateful. One was Jens who send an email to his google group informing all his friends about my book launch. The other was Wayne who offered to send an email to his lecture mates who are currently taking a presentation module (that’s like 300 targeted group of potential buyers!). And then there was Sriram whom we met only once, yet he sent an email to Office of Corporate Relations in NUS, recommending them to release a media tip-off for our book.

I will also like to take this opportunity to thank Caleb, my new friend. *grins* We haven’t met before but recently he wrote an entry on his blog which touched me a great deal. Even now. Here’s an abstract.

Maybe it’s shared interests, maybe he’s quite likeable, maybe it’s his enthusiasm, maybe it’s like how the law of attraction works - the universe will collaborate to make your vision come to pass. He’s so passionate about public speaking that it rubs into me. Reading his blog and those that he links, it is REALLY quite enough. Still, I’m getting the book. ‘Coz this guy must succeed and I want to play a part (however small) in it!

This has been quite a serendipitous moment for me and also a reinforcement to what I believe deeply: If you want something really bad, the universe will indeed conspire to get it for you. No questions about it.

How about you, what would be ONE thing that you want very badly?

Go for it!

Cheers,
Eric Feng
