Goodbye 2006… Hello 2007!
As the year comes to an end, let us take a moment (or two if you are slower) to reflect on your achievements as a speaker, both big and small. What is one courageous act you have undertaken which you are extremely proud of? What are two unforgetable incidents, be it good or bad, that you have encountered in the speaking arena? What are three things you have learnt and experienced as a speaker?
Got them down?
C’mon.. don’t be lazy! It doesn’t have to be long.
Truth is you have grown. Acknowledge that! Give yourself a pat, a hug, a treat or whatever that makes you happy.
Done?
Great!
Now what? How much MORE do you want to grow in the coming 2007?
As Buddha wisely puts it: Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future - concentrate your mind on the present moment. (coz that is what matters the most). Your past actions have got you to where you are at but they are not going to bring you the future you want. It is the actions that you take NOW that will be responsible for that. What do you intend to do different in 2007 that will bring you one step closer in becoming a successful speaker (whatever that means to you)?
And regardless of how long or short your answer is, it doesn’t mean any bananas until you start taking action and do the work.
Make 2007 spectacular!

Hi Eric
I think for me the bold step I took was to join the mandarin toastmasters and I will be doing my first mandarin speech ice-breaker next tuesday!
I was also very happy that I managed to finally nail the Advanced Communicator Bronze as I had took almost 2 years to get that done!
Key lessons I learnt - to practice more for humourous speech and not get complacent as I did okay at Club and Area but bombed at the Division level contest… More practice for International Speech Contest!
See u around in toastmaters
