It just occurs to me that the top five articles for this week all revolves around powerpoint presentations. Who knows!
But then again, this is not surprising since according to Alexei Kapterev (the guy behind “Death by Powerpoint“), there are 300 million powerpoint users in the world right now, with a whooping 30 million powerpoint presentations conducted every single day.

Presentation 2.0: The Lessig Method
If you are looking for a fresh style of presenting, watch Dick Hardt delivers his 15 mins presentation using the Lessig Method. The “Lessig Method” of presentation was invented by the Stanford law professor, Lawrence Lessig. His slides often contain just a single word, short quote, or a photo. So for a 15 minutes presentation, he could have up to 200 slides.
However for this method to work, the slides must synchronize with the verbal dialogue. Hence, it takes a lot of practice to perfect the timing. Judging from the standing ovation Dick got, I think it is worth it.

I am actually quite embarassed that it took me more than a year to put this up on The Public Speaking Blog. Who would have thought that such a list exist! But as the saying goes - better late than never.
The ten presentations that were shortlisted are absolutely phenomenal and they are worthy of close study. In them are gems of presentation wisdom waiting to be realized. Just yesterday, I reviewed all the openings and I found many techniques that they employ which are extremely effective. Rapport was built instantly and the audience has a clear idea of where the presentation is heading. In fact, they can’t wait for the presenter to continue.
Let me sort out my notes and I will share my findings with you later on. But for now, pick one and watch. Here’s my favorite - Seth Godin - All Marketers Are Liars If you want to kill two birds with one stone, watch Dick Hardt’s presentation. This way you get to see the Lessig Method at work too.
